Fits and Starts.....

According to Cambridge Dictionaries Online, the definition of the phrase "Fits and Starts" is as follows:

Periods of activity mixed with periods when nothing happens.

That's pretty much how I roll. I always have a project. I always have a cause. Some days, weeks, months, I focus on these projects and causes whole heartedly, and other days, weeks, months, not so much. I tend to lose my way and meander through life rather than plow through it at full steam ahead. I am very talented at procrastinating and sleeping.

My family calls me Scarlet, because in my world, "tomorrow is another day." No need to do today what you can put off 'til tomorrow. Am I right?

I'm a harried mother of three chickens (aka children) who are, at the time of this post, ten, eight, and five years old. They keep me in fits most of the time, but I love 'em to pieces (of course!).

I'm a wife to one husband who tries so hard to get me to focus on necessary tasks, but fails miserably every time. He loves me anyway, and I love him for that.

I'm a friend to some of the most amazing women on this planet. Women who may not be just like me but "get" me all the same.

I'm completely attention challenged. Medicine helps with that somewhat (when I remember to take it). As my ADHD specialist says, "the meds won't make you want to do the shit you don't want to do, but they will help you get it done if you choose to start."
Which reminds me of something a formally wise, currently dead, guy said: "A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step." Or did I read that in a fortune cookie?

Many people would say I have a bit of an attitude problem. I tend to be a little more honest than I should sometimes. I like to think of myself as an acquired taste. Others probably think of me as a loud mouth bitty. I'm OK with that. (see above -- I have great friends who "get" me).

I am passionate about many things -- about which I will write on this blog (in fits and starts and in no particular order).
        My family
        My friends
Mental health issues (especially in mothers of young children)
        Education
        Music -- especially LIVE music
Learning Differences (my brother, sister, and daughter are dyslexic)
        My faith
        Home design
        Pinterest
        Reading
Writing (I am writing a novel -- in fits and starts, of course)
        Humor
        Sleeping.......
.....To name a few.

There are other things I wish I were passionate about (never end a sentence in a preposition). Like eating well and exercising and laundry and cleaning and cooking and budgeting and organizing. I so want to love doing these things, but alas, I just don't. (I especially don't love doing laundry. Hate. It.) I will probably write about these things, too, and maybe if anyone reads this, you can give me some encouragement to better myself in these areas.

One thing I know nothing about is how to make a blog look pretty. Hopefully honing this skill will become an interest and I will little by little, in fits and starts, get better at it. So bear with me on that one.

I know the Interwebs are filled with lame-o blogs (and a few amazing ones which I will reference from time to time), and mine will not be any less lame-o than the rest of the lame-o's. However, I love to write and correspond, so I'm giving it a shot. If you like it, awesome, if not, eh, I don't really care.

Just don't expect a post every day. I will write this blog just like I live the rest of my life....

.....In Fits and Starts

Blessings and Luck,
Jennifer
